"Get You Round" Marathon Training Plan
Over the next few days I'm going to be posting some online Marathon Training Plans. Its unlikely that I'll choose one particular plan and stick to it, I think I'll personalise my own that takes aspect from all of them.
Here is one from Runners World (UK) that is simply to get you to 'finishing' fitness; however, I'm planning to do more than just finish this time so another plan would suit me better.

Have you considered joining a local marathon training program, rather than doing it completely on your own? I realize that you've done the NYC before (how did you train for that? just being curious), but I'm finding that especially for someone who's out-of-shape, the formal training seems to work really well.
However you do it, good luck!

Richard, thanks I'll need it!
The local program sounds like the best option, but unfortunately my current job means moving around every week so I'm having to do it myself again (which means that I am at the mercy of my feeble willpower!).
As for the NYC Marathon- I pretty much followed Hal Higdon's Novice plan, apart from the fact that I did no long runs over 16 miles prior to the big day.
Also, I took a look at your site, I'll certainly be dropping by regularly as its obviously of interest to me :)
